Managing Collections

Before Publishing

Before you commit your collection to the blockchain, you can change any option at any time. Review the available features on this page before finalizing, so you get the options that you want during the mint for your collection.

Thumbnail and Banner

Be sure to provide a nice thumbnail and a good OpenSea banner. We have tight integration with OpenSea. Once one mint is completed on your collection, you will have a collection page on OpenSea with nothing to do on your part.

After Publishing

After you publish your collection, you need to manage the minting process for it. You do this through the Manage page.

Collections start out as paused so minting is not allowed until you unpause the collection. You have many options that you can configure before minting, as well as during the minting process.

Cognitive Canvas gives you very fine grained control over the minting process with a number of unique features, so spend some time thinking about these options before turning on minting.

Two important features to consider are Preferred NFTs and Discount NFTs.

Preferred NFTs

You can designate other NFTs as preferred NFTs and unpause minting only for holders of those NFTs. Preferred NFTs are a way to reward holders of certain collections. Maybe you have some collections and want to reward your collectors. Preferred NFTs are the way to do this.

When you add the preferred NFT, you specify the maximum number of mints allowed for holders of the preferred NFT. You can add and remove as many preferred NFTs as you want at any time, and pause and unpause the minting process however you wish to get your desired minting experience.

Discount NFTs

You can also add discounts for other NFT collections. Again, you can add or remove the discounted NFTs at any time. Holders of those NFTs will get the discounted price.

Discounted NFTs work in conjunction with Preferred NFTs. If a preferred NFT is also discounted, then the discounted price is the one that will be used.

Open Editions

If you make the Max Total Mints very large and add an end date to your mint, you get the equivalent of an Open Edition.

Dutch Auctions

You can change the price while minting is in progress to simulate a Dutch Auction.

Modifying Other Settings

The only other settings you can modify after the collections is created are the Max Total Mints, the End Date, and the Price.

Max Total Mints

The Max Total Mints setting can be lowered, but not raised. This is done through burning.

End Date

You can modify the end date to any value.

Price

You can modify the price.

Your First Mint

We include a special mint method called mintOwner that lets owners of collections mint without certain checks, like the start date or the paused status. This lets you do the first mint, but can be used in other ways also.

You should do one mint before unpausing, since OpenSea won't see the collection until one mint is recorded on the blockchain. This way, your collection page on OpenSea will be active before minting starts.
